This helped Yvonne Craig not get confused while playing Batgirl and Barbara Gordon

Playing two characters can be exciting for actors, but it also makes things more complicated. You have to memorize twice as many lines and act out different personalities and interests, like when someone plays the commissioner's daughter who becomes Batgirl.

By now, you probably know we're talking about Yvonne Craig. In a 1967 interview with The Daily Reporter, she explained how she kept track of playing two roles who were actually the same person.

"They're not marrying Batman off or anything. It's just that I play the police commissioner's daughter, a librarian, and I date Bruce Wayne casually — not knowing he is Batman — and I have a big crush on Batman," Craig said. "So I become Batgirl, as dedicated to crime-fighting as he is...except he doesn't know who I really am, and I don't know who he really is, and... oh gee. I had to carry cards around for days, reminding me of what I was supposed to know as the librarian and what as Batgirl. It's a little complex."

Even though it sounds confusing, Craig managed to keep the two characters separate on screen. She enjoyed working with Adam West and Burt Ward, and she was open to joining another show after Batman finished.

"A series gives you identity. Or, in a sense, you become a desired commodity — if you're any good. I don't know how long Batman will go on, but I'd even go right on into another series, to cement that popularity I hope it helps me attain."
